Hello again and welcome to the Perfectly Reasonable Necessities blog. I wrote recently about the CNC I use. However what I didn't approach in that article was the bits I use in the router that is controlled by the CNC.
The bits used in a CNC are many and varied. The reason for this is that each material needs to be machined a certain way and the at the same time we need to also consider the finish we want from the bit. To achieve this there are concepts such as feeds and speeds and these differ for every job and material used etc.
I hear you ask "how in the world do we get this?" Well I use forums like the Blue Carve CNC owners group to clear it up and YouTube of course as a backup.
With all that there have been a lot of breakages... unfortunately and its definitely user error. why? well its because CNCing bits are not tool steel with spring steel blades. The bits used in CNC are mainly carbide, well the ones I use are. So replacements are needed that I know will work and get here inside a month. To do that I get mine from an Australian supplier and incidentally its from the same supplier that made the CNC.
I can get the bits I need quickly as they are in Melbourne and at a price that's affordable as well. The packaging is awesome and they work a treat. I thought I would include the link for their
sites.
